Electrical testing and certification covers a range of formal assessments. DP Power Solutions issues Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC) for new installations, Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates (MEIWC) for small alterations, and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) for existing installations. We also carry out periodic inspection and testing, pre-purchase electrical surveys, and insurance inspection reports. All certificates are issued via an approved scheme and registered with the appropriate authority. A copy of the certificate is provided to you and, where required, notified to the local building control authority.

What is the difference between an EIC and an EICR?
An EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) is issued when a new installation is completed or an existing one is significantly altered. An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is an assessment of the condition of an existing installation.
How long is an EICR valid for?
For domestic owner-occupied properties, an EICR is valid for up to 10 years. For rented properties, it must be renewed every 5 years or at each change of tenancy, whichever is sooner.
Do I need a certificate to sell my house?
There is no legal requirement to produce an electrical certificate when selling a house, but solicitors increasingly request EICRs as part of the conveyancing process, and buyers' mortgage lenders may require one.
