Cooker Circuits
Dedicated high-power circuit installation for electric cookers, range cookers, and hobs. from £150.
About This Service
Electric cookers, range cookers, and induction hobs require a dedicated circuit capable of carrying the high current they draw. Connecting them to an existing ring main is dangerous and will likely cause the circuit breaker to trip repeatedly. DP Power Solutions installs a dedicated 6mm² cable from the consumer unit to a cooker connection unit, sized correctly for the appliance. We also fit cooker switches, double-pole isolators, and carry out the connection of new appliances where required.
Key Benefits
- ✓Correctly rated for high-power cooking appliances
- ✓Avoids nuisance tripping and overloaded circuits
- ✓Cooker connection unit and switch included
- ✓Full Electrical Installation Certificate issued
Frequently Asked Questions
What size cable does a cooker circuit need?
Most domestic cookers require a 6mm² twin-and-earth cable protected by a 32A or 40A MCB, depending on the appliance's rated current. We select the correct cable size based on the appliance specification.
Do induction hobs need a dedicated circuit?
Yes. Induction hobs, particularly multi-zone models, draw significant current and must be connected to their own dedicated circuit.
Can you connect the cooker once the circuit is fitted?
Yes. We can connect and commission the appliance as part of the same job.
