About This Service
Outdoor electrical installations require special consideration to be safe and durable. Cables must be buried at the correct depth or run in appropriate conduit; all exterior accessories must be IP-rated; and RCD protection is mandatory on all outdoor circuits. DP Power Solutions installs garden lighting, security floodlights, PIR motion detectors, exterior power sockets, garden power circuits for sheds and outbuildings, hot tub and spa circuits, and outdoor kitchen supplies. All outdoor work is carried out to BS 7671 and fully certificated.

Frequently Asked Questions
How deep must outdoor cables be buried?
Cables buried in garden areas should be at a minimum depth of 500mm, or 600mm under driveways. They must be protected by cable covers and route markers. Alternatively, armoured cable (SWA) can be used with shallower burial depths.
Can I run power to my shed or outbuilding?
Yes. We install a dedicated sub-circuit from the main consumer unit to the outbuilding, typically using SWA armoured cable. We can include lighting, power sockets, and a small consumer unit in the outbuilding.
Do outdoor sockets need RCD protection?
Yes, mandatory. All outdoor circuits must be RCD-protected. We ensure this is provided either at the consumer unit or via an RCD socket outlet.
